Mondi Ruzomberok relies on patented starch cooker of IBS Group

PGA Anlagenbau, a member of the IBS Paper Performance Group, celebrates the successful start-up of its patented starch cookers at Mondi Ruzomberok, Slovakia. As part of an optimization project, the existing conventional starch cookers were replaced by a PGA starchPERFORMER in the surface starch preparation systems of both PM18 and PM19. By using the innovative PGA starch cooker, Mondi Ruzomberok can significantly reduce its surface starch requirements for both machines – while at the same time increasing SCT on PM18 and maintaining product quality on PM19 at the same level. Mr. Krivda, project manager at Mondi Ruzomberok, is enthusiastic: “From the first test run, the advantages of the PGA starchPERFORMER were clearly visible and confirmed.” Within the Mondi Group, in addition to the two surface starch systems, six PGA starchPERFORMER for mass starch are already successfully in operation.

The PGA starchPERFORMER is revolutionizing the processing of mass starch and surface starch in the pulp and paper industry. The innovative starch cooker is based on a patented, thermo-mechanical cooking process. The system offers maximum flexibility and fast changeover when using different types of starch. In addition, the system can significantly reduce starch and steam consumption. With the PGA starchPERFORMER, the starch preparation process is completely under control. Key parameters can be directly influenced to achieve the best results. The PGA starchPERFORMER is used not only in the preparation of surface starch, but also in the area of mass starch, where it maximizes the quality and efficiency of cationic starch.
